Firehall Glass Studio Logo

The Firehall Glass Studio is an urban Appalachian hot glass studio located in Greeneville, Tennessee. It was once a fire station, but now offers beginners classes in glass blowing, glass studio rental, and creative community events.

I was given a ton of creative freedom with this logo and was so pleased when my illustration of the bearded man was chosen as the primary logo. The slight outward curl of the fingers along with the fiery curly beard gave this mark the playful vibe that I got from the studio. It’s a place to explore, play and learn - and the logo needed to feel fun and welcoming.

The secondary logo has a small flame or hot glass blob (can go either way), and is used in applications not suitable for the complicated primary mark. I encouraged the client to use this logo just as often because it’s simple and to the point, but not lacking in visual appeal.

I’ve also included a version of the logo that wasn’t chosen, but I love anyway. The illustration is a sort of bird’s-eye-view of the glass being plunged into the flame of the oven. I love this logo because it feels like it’s in motion - and the hand-drawn quality of the mark with the faux-screen printed color just feels right for this brand.
